NPR has a pretty lame story this weekend discussing online etiquette and the proper way to excuse ones self from a friend request on facebook: “Don’t be a jerk about it, be polite and decline politely…”
How could you possibly be a jerk about it? Could you actually offend someone by denying their friend request? Making online “friends” isn’t about cataloging or validating your friendships. Facebook is a way to explore information. The threshold is “yeah, i’m cool with this person learning more about me.”
however, i do think that facebook would be more well rounded with a bitch slap button.

Last time I checked there was only one button that you could press! How can their be polite and jerk way to do it. I want the bitch slap to be introduced.
